Water and Wastewater Treatment Research

Wilkes University initiated the Technology Transfer Program (TTP) in 1979 as a part of the institution's ongoing mission to develop and maintain quality academic programs and contribute to the renaissance of Northeastern Pennsylvania, while strengthening the preparation of Wilkes University's undergraduate and graduate students. One of the major objectives of the program is to assist area businesses and organizations in gaining access to the University's expertise, facilities, and technical services. The tradition continues today, as the TTP extends the University's scientific and technological resources to national and international business and industry.

For the project to qualify for the TTP program it must have a positive impact on the economic posture of the recipient and region. These projects must also meet and advance the academic mission of Wilkes University and the Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciencess through innovative solutions and student involvement.

The impact of the project is more important than the project size or cost. The cost of the projects may vary from a few hundred dollars to many thousands of dollars. To date, over 500 proposals, have been reviewed and submitted through the Technology Transfer Program. Of these projects, over 250 were funded, for a total of $ 20.7 million dollars. The TTP assists with funding as well as expertise; these projects are augmented by in-kind funding from the Wilkes University and the Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences. To date, the University has contributed over $ 2.1 million as in-kind contributions to TTP projects. For more information about the TTP projects and contact persons, please send your product, service, company information, and type of assistance you need to the Director for the Water Quality Laboratory at Wilkes University, please email your request to TTP Program Information. Your request will be forwarded to the primary contact person depending on the type of project and services needed.
